Sample South Australia Itinerary (Subject to Change)
Day 1: Arrive Adelaide, South Australia
Welcome to Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. On arrival you will transfer by private car from Adelaide Airport to your hotel.
Day 2: Adelaide
Today we have included an excursion as an introduction to the highlights of Adelaide with local experts, travelling by e-bike. Start at the iconic Adelaide Oval and ride along the scenic Linear Park Trail by the River Torren, discovering landmarks like the Old Adelaide Gaol, Adelaide University and more. Glide through the Riverbank Precinct, passing St Peter Cathedral and the University Bridge. Indulge in a charcuterie board and Australian wine flight at the national wine centre in the Botanic Gardens. Wander through the Botanic Gardens, Botanic Park, and pass by the Adelaide Zoo. Conclude your journey along the river Torrens. This tour is suitable for beginners and approximate riding distance is 15-20km.
The rest of your day is spent at your leisure, we recommend making reservations at one of Adelaide’s incredible restaurants to sample some of South Australia’s incredible food and wine.
Day 3: Adelaide – Kangaroo Island
An early morning pick-up from your hotel for a scenic coach transfer to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. On arrival, board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will collect your hire car inside the Ferry Terminal and begin to explore the island at your leisure.
Kangaroo Island is over 155km in length and 55km wide and is Australia’s third largest island boasting some of South Australia’s most stunning beaches. You have the opportunity to take in the spectacular coastal scenery, scenic landscapes, and fantastic National Parks. Whilst Kangaroo Island is much celebrated for its wildlife, its food, wine, and local produce are integral parts of the experience. You could taste organic honey and sample honey products from the Island’s famous Ligurian Bee. Take a guided tour through the stages of distillation at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial distillery still in operation in South Australia. Enjoy some of Kangaroo Island’s fine, home grown and award-winning wines and take in the stunning scenery surrounding the vineyards and cellar doors. Sip on the gins, vodkas, and liqueurs at KI Spirits, made using native Australian Botanicals and locally grown or sourced ingredients. Enjoy an interactive, hands on and educational experience at Raptor Domain with their Birds of Prey ‘free-flight’ presentation. You can swim with dolphins or hop on board a fishing charter; enjoy swimming, snorkelling and surfing too. If you would rather keep your feet on terra firma, there’s bushwalking, quad biking, and sandboarding at Little Sahara (additional costs may apply).
Check in to your Kangaroo Island accommodation where you will stay for 2 nights.
Day 4: Kangaroo Island
Explore more of the wonders of this beautiful island such as the Seal Bay Conservation Park where you can join a guided beach tour with an experienced Park Ranger and walk amongst a colony of rare and wild Australian sea lions – a truly amazing and unforgettable experience (own expense). Visit Flinders Chase National Park, a sanctuary for native Australian wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and echidnas. Get some awesome photo opportunities at Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, a natural nursery and haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals that can be seen resting, swimming and playing in the waves or on the rocks (entry fee into Flinders Chase NP not included).
Day 5: Kangaroo Island – Adelaide
Return your car in Kangaroo Island and take your return ferry and coach transfer to return to Adelaide where you will overnight.
Day 6: Depart Adelaide
Today is at your leisure until you depart. Depending on your flight time you could visit the Adelaide Central market in the morning before you depart.
