Arrive in and Depart from Nelson

8 Day Adventure

DAY 01 – Abel Tasman

You will be picked up at the Nelson airport and transferred to your hotel where you will check in for 2 nights. The balance of your day is at leisure .

DAY 02 – Day at Leisure

Day at leisure today. We recommend a visit to the World of Wearable Art Museum.

DAY 03 – 05 – 3 Day Abel Tasman Guided Walk & Kayak

Experience the beautiful Abel Tasman coast track from Totaranui to Kaiteriteri at your own walking pace with expert guides and boat back-up if you need it.

Walking each day is optional. You are welcome to travel on any of our scheduled ferry services to enjoy relaxed sightseeing and wonderful overnight lodge stays. Includes: 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners.

Day 03:

Take a scenic drive through the coastal orchard and vineyards lining the highway from Nelson to Motueka and Kaiteriteri. Board your tour guide’s comfortable Vista Cruise and travel the length of the golden Abel Tasman coast from Kaiteriteri north to Totaranui, relaxing on the viewing decks and enjoying refreshments from the cafe.

From Totaranui, walk through mature native forest and along secluded beaches to the breathtaking expanse of Awaroa Inlet where you’ll reach Meadowbank Homestead – a faithful recreation of the Wilson family’s original home on the ‘finest site in the bay’.

Day 04:

Your walk today follows the coastal track through cool native forest and reaches golden sand beaches, perfect for swimming. Start with a relaxing breakfast overlooking Meadowbank’s gardens and the beautiful waters beyond, then choose how much walking you want to do – your guide will arrange boat transfers to suit your needs.

Day 05:

Wake up to golden light on the sands of Torrent Bay and perhaps a coffee on the deck before breakfast. Today’s walk follows the easiest section of the coastal track through to Marahau, with panoramic views across Tasman Bay to Nelson. This is a day rich in history, too, as your guide recounts stories of how major landmarks were named by early explorers.

Later today you will be transferred to your Nelson hotel where you will check in for 3 nights.

DAY 06 – Nelson area

Day at leisure today. We recommend hiring an e-bike to explore Rabbit Island and Mapua Wharf.

DAY 07 – Wine and Artisans Half Day Tour

Nelson is well known for its award-winning local wines and Craft Beer. It is New Zealand’s only hop growing area and we travel through the beautiful grape growing, hop growing, berry growing and orchard areas, to visit the tasting locations.

We visit two award winning wineries for wine tasting then a scenic drive to NZ’s Oldest Pub (built in 1850 by early German settler Cordt Bensemann) in the rural Hop growing region of Nelson. There you can enjoy a tray of local craft brews and ciders OR if you prefer, a glass of beautiful Moutere wine grown in the Moutere clays. We will also visit at least one other boutique brewery / cidery or add another wine stop on the way home. Wine Brews and definitely a lot of Views!

DAY 08 – Depart

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Nelson airport… why not stay longer?
