Hop on the iconic Ghan Train and travel from Adelaide to the stunning Alice Springs; cutting through the heart of the sunburnt country with various stops and excursions – all of which are included – along the way. The Northern Territory has so much to offer from rugged mountain ranges, spectacular gorges, green waterholes, aboriginal carvings and much more. The cities are also delightful – both Sydney and Adelaide offer a variety of remarkable experiences, capturing the true personality of each city.

Sydney, Adelaide and Outback
10 Day Adventure
Day 01 – Sydney
Welcome to Sydney! Upon arrival you will be transferred to your accommodation. The balance of your day is at leisure.
Day 02- Sydney City Tour
Join your city tour of Sydney. Visit the historic Rocks area and hear early convict history. Enjoy magnificent views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. See the shopping heart of the city, Queen Victoria Building and Sydney Tower. Visit Sydney’s trendy Oxford Street district and travel through Paddington with its terrace houses before arriving at the Pacific Ocean. See the superb coast cliff walk around Tamarama and Bronte. Travel on to famous Bondi Beach and visit the beachfront promenade with time to enjoy a coffee or cool drink (at own cost). See Aussie lifesavers and Sydney’s best panoramic view at Dover Heights. Return to Sydney via Double Bay, Kings Cross and Mrs Macquarie’s Point for a final magical viewpoint over the harbour before returning to the city centre.
Day 03 – Blue Mountains National Park
Explore the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park with over one million hectares of dramatic cliffs, unspoiled bushland, deep canyons and lush rainforest. See native animals up close and choose from the many options we have throughout the day. Visit the famous Three Sisters rock formation up close from Echo Point before arriving at Scenic world where you can witness the vastness of
the Blue Mountains and join the optional rides – Scenic Railway, Cableway or Skyway (own expense). These rides are a great way to see the steep valleys and canyons and follow the boardwalk along the valley floor.
Discover Leura village where you can pre-purchase lunch at a selected
local cafe or purchase on the day as you wander the quaint streets.
Next, we enjoy an afternoon encounter at a Wildlife Park where you can
get up close to a koala, see kangaroos, wombats, dingoes. Return to
Sydney through the suburb of Homebush, the venue of the Sydney 2000 Olympic games.
Day 04 – Sydney to Adelaide
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Adelaide. Upon arrival in Adelaide you will be transferred to your hotel. The balance of your day is at leisure.
Day 05 – The Ghan Train
Once you’ve settled in and the big wheels start turning, make your way to the classically styled Queen Adelaide Restaurant carriage for a delicious lunch. Watch the rolling pastoral lands of South Australia merge into rugged Mallee scrub.
Marvel as the spectacular Flinders Ranges disappear into the horizon, all the while enjoying the solitude of your cabin, then mingling with fellow travellers in the Lounge car for afternoon tea. Dinner in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant is bound to satisfy and the selection of wines is equally outstanding. Then head back to your cabin for a good night’s sleep in anticipation of a striking outback sunrise.

Day 06 – The Ghan to Alice Springs
Wake up and witness an unforgettable outback sunrise at your morning stop in Marla in the remote reaches of South Australia. Back on board, it’s time for brunch or even a full breakfast. After a few more coffees, fresh juices and more incredible outback scenery, you’ll be arriving in iconic Alice Springs and transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure, so why not take an Alice Springs town tour to visit historical sites and some of the essential services delivered from Alice to the community of this vast region (own expense).

Day 07 – Alice Springs Uluru Sacred Sites & Sunset – BBQ dinner
Depart Alice Springs through the rugged desert landscape, passing the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. Stop at a camel farm, where there’s the opportunity to ride one of these ‘ships of the desert’ (own expense). View flat-topped Atila (Mt. Conner) in the distance, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort rested, relaxed and ready to explore the amazing World Heritage listed Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park. After a visit to the cultural centre you’ll join your guide for a drive around the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) then travel to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock art and learn about the area as your Driver Guide points out native flora and fauna and explains the history of Uluru.
Head to the Uluru sunset viewing area and witness the striking colour changes of Uluru, while enjoying sparkling wine. Travel to our exclusive venue to enjoy our delicious award-winning barbecue dinner and stargazing (weather permitting). Enjoy sparkling wine on arrival and dine on a variety of meats, salads and a tasty dessert.

Day 08: Uluru – Kata Tjuta – Kings Canyon
Rise early to travel to the sunrise viewing area watch the first sunlight of the day creep across the desert plains it all its glory. Travel to the mystical domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and continue to the base of Walpa Gorge to explore the unusual conglomerate rock formations. Later, travel through spectacular desert scenery on your way to Kings Canyon Resort. After turning off the Lasseter Highway and on to the Luritja Road your Driver Guide will provide informative commentary about the history of the surrounding cattle area.
Day 09: Kings Canyon to Alice Springs
This morning join your Driver Guide for the rocky climb to the canyon rim for superb views of Watarrka National Park (for those with a good level of fitness) or explore the canyon creek bed, an easier, shady walk. Travel through the desert to Alice Springs.
Day 10: Depart Alice Springs
Your itinerary concludes this morning. You’ll be transferred to Alice Springs Airport for your onward flight (flights anytime). We encourage you to extend your journey to explore more of Australia. Please contact one of our Destination Specialists to discuss!
