South Africa & Namibia Touring Highlights
- Fish River Canyon – popular natural landmark in southern Namibia that is the largest canyon in Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- Climb Dune 45 – a 170m star dune in the Sossusvlei are of the Namib Desert that is made of 5 million year old sand
- Adventures in Swakopmund – Namibia’s largest coastal town, a picturesque seaside resort where the desert meets the sea
- Wildlife spotting in Etosha National Park – a game reserve unique varied landscape that is one of the largest savannah conservation areas and home to a variety of animals such as Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Giraffe, Cheetah, Hyena, Springbok, Zebra and many more.

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town, South Africa
Arrive at any time today and make your way to your Cape Town accommodation.
Day 2: Cape Town – Lambert’s Bay
Head up the Cape’s west coast, stopping at the !Khwa ttu San Culture and Education Centre. Arrive in Lambert’s Bay and enjoy an included wine tasting. You may choose to add an excursion to visit Bird Island (additional expense) or stroll through this charming town to explore. Travelling from Cape Town, continue north towards Namaqualand, keeping an eye out for fields of Namaqualand daisies (in season August & September).
Head towards the coast again and on to Lambert’s Bay, a picturesque town on the west coast of South Africa. Enjoy an included wine tasting. Learn how to analyze your palates, listen to your taste buds, and how to pair your food with the best wine raised in the foothills of the Cederburg Mountains.
Day 3: Lambert’s Bay (South Africa) – Orange River (Namibia)
Travelling north, enjoy a full day’s travel through this dry and remote part of South Africa. Continue north and in the mid-afternoon, cross into Namibia and a more arid region and stop at scenic Orange River for the evening. After getting settled, enjoy the late afternoon by the river bank.
Day 4: Orange River – Fish River Canyon – Keetmanshoop (Namibia)
This morning, leave the banks of the Orange River behind as you continue on to Fish River Canyon. Visit this breathtaking canyon, then travel north enjoying dramatic Namibian landscapes as you head up towards Keetmanshoop. In the afternoon visit the geological formation: Giant’s Playground and the Quiver Tree Forest.
Day 5: Keetmanshoop – Namib Desert (Namibia)
Start early and travel north enjoying the dramatic Namibian landscape as you head up towards Sesriem. Arrive in the area in the late afternoon, where the towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei form the gateway into the Namib Desert.
Day 6: Namib Desert, Sossusvlei Dunes & Sesriem Canyon (Namibia)
Visit the famous Sossusvlei, a salt and clay surrounded by ancient high sand dunes up to 300m (984 ft) high and Sesriem Canyon in the Namib-Naukluft National Park . Here you can can climb the towering Dune 45 and you may also opt to visit Deadvlei, a white clay pan.
Day 7: Namib Desert – Swakopmund (Namibia)
Get a feel for the Namib Desert as you spend hours crossing this empty region. En route to the Namibian coast, take a coffee break in Solitaire, a mystical village consisting of a filling station, general dealer/coffee shop, and small mechanical workshop. Drive through Walvis Bay, the only town on the Namibian coastline that boasts a deep-sea harbor. Enjoy the views of the Namib desert before arriving in the historical town of Swakopmund. Spend two nights in the area exploring this historical town or trying some of the numerous activities available, such as sand boarding or skydiving. Swakopmund has bizarre lunar landscapes, unforgettable sunsets, and prehistoric Welwitchia plants.
Day 8: Swakopmund (Namibia)
Today is at your leisure to exploring all the area of Swakopmund has to offer. Optional activities (additional expense) here include things such as sandboarding in the Namib Desert, Swakopmund skydiving, Mondesa town tour or a scenic Skeleton Coast sightseeing flight.
Day 9: Swakopmund – Etosha National Park (Namibia)
Begin moving east into the interior of Namibia. On this route, pass through a lunar landscape and see the imposing Spitzkoppe, also known as the “Matterhorn” of Namibia in the distance. Enter Etosha National Park and enjoy an afternoon wildlife safari drive. Keep an eye out for lions, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, hyenas and antelopes. After sunset, some animals may head to the watering holes near the campground.
Day 10: Etosha National Park (Namibia)
Enjoy another wildlife safari drive in the Etosha area and keep your eyes peeled for the vast array of incredible animals. Over 100 species of mammals call Etosha home.
Day 11: Etosha National Park – Windhoek (Namibia)
Leave Etosha National Park and travel south through the Namibian countryside to Windhoek. Arrive in Windhoek and visit Penduka Village Cafe for lunch. This enterprise supports women disadvantaged through poverty, disability, ill-health, lack of education and empowers them to develop skills in textiles, beading and pottery. Tour the facilities and have the chance to purchase some of their crafts before spending the rest of the afternoon exploring the German-influenced capital city of Windhoek.
Day 12: Depart Windhoek, Namibia
