Victoria Falls & Hwange

Day 1: Arrive Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

On arrival in Victoria Falls International Airport, you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel in Victoria Falls which is one of the most iconic places to stay in the world. On the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western end of the falls, this popular tourist town is compact enough to walk around and makes an ideal base for travellers to explore the seventh wonder of the world, the unfathomably vast Victoria Falls.  Your boutique hotel includes views from your room looking across the lawns to the National Parks where Elephant, Warthog, Impala or the occasional Buffalo might be passing by or grazing on the lawn or in the tree line.

Day 2: Victoria Falls Sightseeing & Zambezi Cruise

Today you will take a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, renowned as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. While Victoria Falls is not the widest or highest waterfall in the world it is a spectacular sight to behold because of the sheer volume of water falling. ‘Vic Falls’ as they are commonly known borders the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in both Zimbabwe and Zambia. The falls are so impressive, columns of spray can be seen from miles away. This is an absolute bucket list travel experience and a highlight of your Zimbabwe safari holiday.

The remainder of the afternoon at your leisure to explore the town or participate in the various optional activities available in the area (optional activities, additional expense). Late afternoon you will enjoy a spectacular sunset cruise on the Zambezi River this is a relaxing was to enjoy the beauty of the majestic Zambezi with the opportunity to see a variety of game including Crocodiles, Elephants, Hippo and sometimes even Rhino along the riverbanks.

Day 3: Victoria Falls to Hwange

Travel by road from Victoria Falls to the northwest corner of Hwange National Park.  Due to this proximity to the falls, it boasts an incredible biodiversity of flora, fauna and African wildlife. There are over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded here. Specifically, the elephant population in Hwange is considered world famous as it is one of the largest in the world.

Your intimate eco-lodge is off the beaten track where you can discover the pristine wilderness and abundant wildlife of Northern Hwange National Park. The communal area has inside and outside lounge and dining spaces and there is an open kitchen to observe and interact with chefs as your meals are being prepared.

The main area of the lodge overlooks a waterhole and large dam where wildlife frequent throughout the day.  Another outside dining area is located at the eco-friendly pool with views over the plains and easy access to the pool. After an exhilarating day of game viewing, guests can retreat to the cool refuge of the camp’s swimming pool and can enjoy delectable meals savoured al fresco or in the elegant dining room.

Day 4: Hwange National Park Game Drive

Today enjoy a full day guided game drive in the largest and oldest park in Zimbabwe. Hwange National Park is famous for its incredible elephant herds, but you can also see smaller mammals such as the critically endangered painted dogs. Sightings of the ‘big five’ animals in a single day are common, this is why it is known as an epic safari and birding experience. While staying in Hwange, you have the chance to meet the poaching unit to learn what motivates these conservation warriors and can ask them any burning questions.

Day 5: Hwange National Park Game Drive

Today you have a morning game drive in Hwange to continue your search for African wildlife. Your afternoon is at leisure, you may choose to do optional game activities such as a guided walk through the bush with an expert guide. Get up and personal with lions or elephants on foot for another incredible Zimbabwe safari experience.

Day 6: Hwange to Victoria Falls, Depart Zimbabwe

After one more sunrise and breakfast at your safari lodge, you will be transported back to Victoria Falls to the airport for your onward flight.
